About Bobby Jindal

In 2008, after Senator John McCain’s campaign shortlisted Gov. Bobbly Jindal as one of his potential running mates for the presidential election, the newly-elected Louisiana Governor was requested to submit his personal information for vetting. Gov. Jindal politely said no, indicating that he already got the job that he wants.

The “young Ronald Reagan,” as conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh once called him, first ran for Governor in 2003. Despite finishing first in the open primary, the-then 32-year old Jindal lost to Democrat Kathleen Blanco during the second round of balloting by a narrow 4%.

Undeterred, he contested the staunchly conservative Louisiana's 1st Congressional district for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives and emerged the winner, recording an impressive 71.7% margin of victory. The Roman Catholic convert repeated the feat two years later, winning his reelection by an even more remarkable margin of 80.74%!

He ran for governor again in 2007, and amidst cries of "bubbas for Bobby," the ethnic Punjabi crushed his eleven competitors in the first round voting in the open primary and was sworn in as Louisiana’s 55th Governor on January 14, 2008.
